Halcyon Avant Performs 700km Maneuver for Orbit Transfer Vehicle

Halcyon Avant Polaris System HoistedBenchmark’s Halcyon Avant high-thrust chemical propulsion system, featuring four 22N bipropellant thrusters launched on Spaceflight’s Sherpa LTC-2 orbit transfer. This particular configuration, known as Polaris, performed a 700 km orbit raise, the largest orbital maneuver of an OTV to date.

After a period of systems check out, Polaris performed five long duration burns, outlined in the timeline below. This rapid performance for reaching orbit swiftly enables faster return on investment for the commercial market and has Department of Defense implications in an increasingly contested environment.
