Benchmark Space Systems is pleased to announce a Phase II award selection by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administrationβs SBIR Ignite program for advancement of our "πππππππ" concept β (Resilient Independent Propulsive Controlled On-orbit Recovery Device). Program Execuitve, Jason Kessler, stated:
βWe want to support innovators across the aerospace industry because their technologies have the potential to make a big impact in the commercial market. A rich and diverse marketplace creates more opportunity for us all. These Phase II awards illuminate a clear path for a unique range of technologies that we believe will positively influence the lives of all Americans.β
RIPCORD offers multiple operational capabilities and applications spanning across our roadmap, such as debris remediation, mission extension, and direct replenishment of propulsion systems on-orbit. Our technologies, including SmartAIMβ’ onboard propulsion control software, and mission experience, provide the foundation for the advanced offering.
According to Benchmark's Director of Business Development, Kevin DiMarzio, the RIPCORD concept the team will explore "...features Benchmarkβs flight-proven components layered with universal control electronics avionics and flight software. The system is self-contained, doesnβt require significant power, and is equipped with all necessary resources to perform its mission autonomously, independent of any larger spacecraft."
